Heart of it all Photography bio picture
  • Heartfelt Welcome!!

Hello! This is me! I started my photography business in Turkey. I had a love for photography and had some wonderful friends willing to sit in front of my lens while I learned more about my style of photography. I wanted something to watermark my images, so I went with the basic plan ... initials. m.j.c. photography.

To this day, I still like the simplicity of the name, but there are so many people with the same initials and already branded their photography in that way.

A few months back I attended a Shot Party in St. Louis. I heard 2 of my favorite photographers speak at this conference, Bobbi + Mike. They were awesome, just like I knew they would be. They spoke of making memories or heirlooms for people. That one day their client's great grand children would look back at their photography and see them as they were when they were young, free, in love ...

They didn't necessarily say something that I didn't already know, but they said it in a new way. In a way that just struck me ... this is ALL about the client. These pictures showcase the LOVE people have for each other. Whether they are engagement , a newborn baby , family pictures, senior pictures, it doesn't matter. The person (or people) in front of the lens is the HEART of a family.

I went home that night thinking ... and thought some more ...

Then I thought, the heart of it all ... is YOU!

I promise that when we're together for a photo shoot ... you're my family. We aren't going to just sit in front of the lens and smile. We are going to go out and have fun! We are going to pretend that you are in a reality TV show and YOU are the star. We're going to photograph you having fun with your family or significant other. We are going to have an amazing time together and make memories that you will keep forever.

Kelly & Joey

Meet my new friends, Kelly and Joey.  They’re adorable, sweet, fun, in love, and getting married! We were going to meet on a Tuesday afternoon, but I had a cancellation and Kelly agreed that Sunday afternoon worked better. Turned out to be the best decision. Not only did we have the most amazing weather, the sun was perfect, and leaves golden … it poured all day Tuesday.

I can’t even begin to express how much fun I had with this adorable couple and how much I love these images. I hope they do too. <3

Rench Family

Meet the Rench family. Where to begin … how about the beginning? We moved here, to Scott AFB, in Aug of 2011.  Abby was 3 months at the time. I didn’t know any, we weren’t in our home yet, no friends.

Ms. Michelle is one of the Optometry techs and works with my husband. She immediately took us under her wing and was a good friend when I needed one.  When Abby and I would get lonely or bored, we’d go and hang out in the clinic.  Abby sat up and crawled for the first time on the 5th floor optometry room.

2 years later ….. 🙂

Just a few pictures of Ms. Michelle and my Abadaba.

Keithley Family

Meet the Keithley family.  Smart, fun, active, energetic, sweet, creative, and loving.  The whole package.  I was nervous, shooting a family with 4 young boys. But they were the perfect clients … smart, fun, active, energetic, sweet, creative and loving! 😉

Dad is in the US Air Force and Mom … well, she’s amazing.  The short version of the story is, she made a personal decision to not only be a stay at home mom, but to home school her boys. She wants to spend the most time investing in her boys by working with them one on one. And like I said, they are smart, fun, active, energetic, sweet, creative, and loving … I’d say it’s working for their family! 🙂

Welcome Eva

Another amazing birth.  I feel so lucky to be apart of this amazing life experience.  Eva was born on 16 Oct 2013, via c-section.  So while I wasn’t able to be in the room for that part of the birth, I was able to follow her through a few firsts.  I met up with Eva on her way to the nursery to be bathed, have her check up, and get warmed up before going back to Mom.

I shot the first part of the session through the glass. But then an amazing nurse let me in because it was a ‘special circumstance.’ You see, Eva’s Daddy is currently deployed.  He’s overseas, serving our great country.  And while he was there through ‘FaceTime’, Mom had hired me to help document this experience for Dad.

Here are a few of my favorite shots.  There are no words to express how you feel being apart of this little miracle.

Little

Little ‘newborn’ trick – Safely run their head (not face) under lukewarm (baby safe) water. The sound and warmth of the water calms a baby down, almost immediately. Eva was very happy to have her hair rinsed. 🙂

Thank you so much for the beautiful pictures of Eva. I am her daddy’s sister and I got teary eyed when I saw the picture of James watching her get a bath. I hope that you will be there for his first time to hold her. That will be an amazing picture! Your work is just beautiful, thank you for this series of pictures that has brought a family that is spread out across the world, a little closer together. Bless you.

Incredible photos! Pawpaw and I love what you have done and know James will love it. Max is a super big brother.
