Heart of it all Photography bio picture
  • Heartfelt Welcome!!

Hello! This is me! I started my photography business in Turkey. I had a love for photography and had some wonderful friends willing to sit in front of my lens while I learned more about my style of photography. I wanted something to watermark my images, so I went with the basic plan ... initials. m.j.c. photography.

To this day, I still like the simplicity of the name, but there are so many people with the same initials and already branded their photography in that way.

A few months back I attended a Shot Party in St. Louis. I heard 2 of my favorite photographers speak at this conference, Bobbi + Mike. They were awesome, just like I knew they would be. They spoke of making memories or heirlooms for people. That one day their client's great grand children would look back at their photography and see them as they were when they were young, free, in love ...

They didn't necessarily say something that I didn't already know, but they said it in a new way. In a way that just struck me ... this is ALL about the client. These pictures showcase the LOVE people have for each other. Whether they are engagement , a newborn baby , family pictures, senior pictures, it doesn't matter. The person (or people) in front of the lens is the HEART of a family.

I went home that night thinking ... and thought some more ...

Then I thought, the heart of it all ... is YOU!

I promise that when we're together for a photo shoot ... you're my family. We aren't going to just sit in front of the lens and smile. We are going to go out and have fun! We are going to pretend that you are in a reality TV show and YOU are the star. We're going to photograph you having fun with your family or significant other. We are going to have an amazing time together and make memories that you will keep forever.

Beautiful Ballerina

Hi friends! It’s been a while! 🙂  I’m participating in a photography class / challenge and last month’s assignment was on focus and depth of field. I knew I wanted to do something a little more artsy, so I held a casting call for a ballerina / dancer.  I had so many Moms reach out to me. I’m seriously amazed by the dedication not only dancers, but dancer Moms have … it’s not just the dancer’s dream.  Kayleigh’s mother reached out to me and after hearing a little about her, knew she was the girl for the job.

Kayleigh was my first ballerina and she did not disappoint. She has such a passion for dancing, it was overwhelming. I seriously could have photographed her all day. I was absolutely blown away by her talent, smile, and laugh. We tried a few ‘serious’ poses but we’d look at each other and start laughing. She was such a trooper, through the rain and mud, can’t wait to work with her again!

Simply STUNNING. I’m so in love with the contrast of the nature to the bold red and black! And, I am not even a red person. Beautiful images!

These are amazing. SHE is absolutely gorgeous. I love that your class gave you the opportunity to do something a little different than the norm. I can’t help but think her grandkids will see these someday and say, “LOOK! That was grandma!”

Merry Christmas!

Our first Christmas in San Antonio, TX. Abigail asked Santa for post-its and an umbrella. She, of course, received many other wonderful gifts. We had a blast!

My Sunshine

For those who are new to my blog, hi!!  We’ve been living in San Antonio, Texas since July.  I wanted to introduce you to my Sweet Pea. She doesn’t model for me that often, (photographer kid syndrome 😉 ) , but when she does, I eat it up. 🙂

Details about my introduction deal are below.  I know that when you’re investing in photography, it’s hard to spend money on a photographer you don’t really know. This deal gives you a chance to really meet me and fall in love with me! 😉 😀

Can’t wait to work with you!!

I got lucky on a few of these. This day was rainy and cold and I had to pull out all the bribes. ;)

Henson Family

I met Heather through our local MOPS group. We only hung out once or twice at the gym (part of workout buddy system!)  Anyway … one of our mutual friends sent me a message that Heather’s husband was going to be deploying soon and she wanted to set up a session for their family before John left.

The good news, deployment was cancelled! Whoop whoop!  But turns out they value their family pictures as much as I do, so we still went a head with their session. The weather was perfect, the kids were adorable, and we had the best time.

Starting with my favorite.

These kids are so loved. I was in awe of how Heather and John spoke and loved on them.

Stunning Sasha

I first met Sasha at a MOPS (mother of preschoolers) play date.  She mentioned that she use to model so …

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. I started a photography course and needed a model. I tried my 3 year old but she wouldn’t hold still. I grabbed the cat but he’s worse than the toddler. 😉  So I got a hold of Sasha and she agreed to model for me. We met in my back yard and took a few pictures. Between Sasha’s stunning looks and the amazing sun, I was in photographer heaven. <3

Absolutely stunning Sasha!
