Heart of it all Photography bio picture
  • Heartfelt Welcome!!

Hello! This is me! I started my photography business in Turkey. I had a love for photography and had some wonderful friends willing to sit in front of my lens while I learned more about my style of photography. I wanted something to watermark my images, so I went with the basic plan ... initials. m.j.c. photography.

To this day, I still like the simplicity of the name, but there are so many people with the same initials and already branded their photography in that way.

A few months back I attended a Shot Party in St. Louis. I heard 2 of my favorite photographers speak at this conference, Bobbi + Mike. They were awesome, just like I knew they would be. They spoke of making memories or heirlooms for people. That one day their client's great grand children would look back at their photography and see them as they were when they were young, free, in love ...

They didn't necessarily say something that I didn't already know, but they said it in a new way. In a way that just struck me ... this is ALL about the client. These pictures showcase the LOVE people have for each other. Whether they are engagement , a newborn baby , family pictures, senior pictures, it doesn't matter. The person (or people) in front of the lens is the HEART of a family.

I went home that night thinking ... and thought some more ...

Then I thought, the heart of it all ... is YOU!

I promise that when we're together for a photo shoot ... you're my family. We aren't going to just sit in front of the lens and smile. We are going to go out and have fun! We are going to pretend that you are in a reality TV show and YOU are the star. We're going to photograph you having fun with your family or significant other. We are going to have an amazing time together and make memories that you will keep forever.

Aguirre Family

I met this sweet family through my daughter’s swim coach. These kids … wow … they’re adorable, sweet, smart, and were so much fun to play and work with. The family wanted one more session in the bluebonnets before they PCS this year … so that’s what we did!  While I’m so glad we got to meet and take pictures … I’m really sad that I feel in love with them and now they’re moving. Safe travels my friends!!

The cutest!!

Yeah, so I didn’t get the last 2 weeks blogged like I planned. I tend to share too much on Facebook … so here’s a peek at what we’ve been up too the last few weeks. It’s been a whirlwind of outdoors and sunshine.

You can see first 5 weeks here. 🙂

Week 6: Focus

New Personal Project!

It’s been a loooong time!!  I’ve been meaning to blog little posts just to stay in touch … my bad!

I’m apart of a group this year that provides weekly lessons. They give you basic instructions, but they also give you hints and tips to push your limits and think outside the box.  Most importantly, I’m taking pictures and documenting more of Sweet Pea’s life … printing them out and making more memories.

We are in week 5 already! Here’s the last month to catch you up. 🙂

Week 1: Rule of thirds

Week 4: Shutter Speed

The first 2 images were a slow shutter speed. Trying an artistic blur of sorts. It’s not my favorite, but would still like to learn more about the art. The bottom 3 are a fast shutter speed … more my style. 🙂

Week 5: ISO

Pushing my camera’s limits. The first 2 shots are high ISO, but worked a noise reduction lesson. Didn’t notice a huge difference, but glad to have that new skill under my belt! The next day I pushed my camera hard … jumping trampoline picture is a very very low ISO of 31! High sun, bright day … good to know I can go low! The last picture was almost zero light in my room. I didn’t have time to turn the light on, for fear of losing the pose. Jacked my ISO up to 10000!

S Family

Meet the Shaw family … love them!! I first met Katie when we were stationed at Scott AFB, IL.  I did Katie’s maternity pictures and then Eva’s fresh 48. Fast forward 2 years and we’re both stationed at Lackland AFB, TX! I was so excited to reunite and take some family pictures.

Weather was very windy and on the chilly side … but the Shaw family brought their ‘A game’ and we made some great memories!

K Family

Meet the K family … they’re adorable. I met Angie through MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers.) She’s stunning, she has a handsome husband, and 3 of the most beautiful girls! This family is beautiful from the inside out. I may have gone a little over board on the cute pictures, but I can’t help it … we had so much fun! <3
